Collective Staffing

What is collective staffing?

Rather than staffing positions one at a time, it can be more efficient to develop a list of qualified candidates. Collective staffing processes are partnerships with other managers, whether they are in your organization or with another federal department or agency . By working with other managers, you can share costs and potentially attract a higher number of candidates.

When should collective staffing be used?

Collective staffing can be an effective tool when you have a variety of similar positions to staff or when you need to attract a higher number of candidates. It is useful when you know you will have vacancies in the near future and also allows you to share knowledge on things such as recruitment processes and assessment tools.

How can the Public Service Commission help?

We can help plan the process because we understand your business requirements and needs. Our staffing professionals can help you:

  • develop a resourcing strategy;
  • develop selection and assessment tools;
  • attract and assess candidates;
  • manage high volumes of applications;
  • manage the notification process;
  • provide assistance with informal discussion and complaints; and
  • maintain and update your pools.
