Guidance on building your own functional community pool

Before starting, you should first consider what your human resources needs are, including a governance structure to help manage your initiative.

The following questions have been prepared to help you start your collective recruitment journey

  • To what extent is your human resources planning integrated with your strategic business planning (within organizations and/or across functional communities)?
  • Has your community identified critical positions that will experience a significant number of retirements in the next five years?
  • Is there one segment of your functional community that is most critical to your mission?
  • Has your functional community established a catalogue of skills and competencies across your community?
  • Do you have commitments to hire? (e.g. how many positions, occupation(s), if applicable, and where they are)
  • Has your community identified a lead for your process? (mandatory)
  • Has your community decided on a process? (internal, external or a mix of both)
  • Has your community developed OR can your community develop a common Statement of Merit Criteria?
