Executive Hiring Services
The Public Service Commission is a leader in developing and delivering public service-wide Executive Group (EX-1 to EX-5) hiring in response to the needs of government, citizens and federal employees.
We are a centre of expertise for the provision of executive hiring services, including consulting and operational support services for the assessment and selection of executives:
- advice to deputy heads and hiring managers, as well as to members of, and aspirants to, the EX Group;
- management and full operational support of the hiring process;
- advice and support on:
- the development of executive hiring organizational guidelines;
- the most effective and appropriate internal and external staffing strategies;
- elaboration of statements of merit criteria;
- the development, appropriate use and application of assessment tools to assess EX competencies;
- the make-up of assessment boards; and
- undertaking initiatives to improve the representation of employment equity groups in the executive cadre.
To ensure the quality of services provided to clients, the ERD is committed to:
- providing quality services based on clients' needs;
- ensuring services are provided in accordance with the requirements of:
- Public Service Employment Act
- Public Service Employment Regulations
- Exclusion Approval Orders
- all other relevant legislation, such as, the Employment Equity Act, the Official Languages Act, and the appointment policies of the PSC and client organizations;
- ensuring adherence to the guiding values of fairness, transparency, access and representativeness, and compliance with the Code of Values and Ethics for the Public Service;
- providing added value to the executive hiring services requested by client organizations;
- providing leadership in the development and delivery of products, services, technical resources and tools, to meet clients' executive hiring needs; and
- adopting a results-based management approach supported by service standards.
