Launch of the fall 2010 Federal Student Work Experience Program campaign (10-22)
Letters to Heads of Human Resources are available via an RSS Feed .
The Public Service Commission (PSC) will launch its fall Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) campaign on October 19, 2010.
Student recruitment is an important source of talent for the renewal of the public service, with FSWEP contributing over 9 800 hires to the public service last year. FSWEP provides managers with access to an inventory of students for temporary job placements — either part-time during academic and non-academic terms or full-time during non-academic terms (e.g. summer breaks). This inventory consists of highly motivated Canadian students in more than 350 academic disciplines from high schools, colleges and universities across the country.
Students can be hired on a part-time or full-time basis. Hiring organizations can request referrals from the FSWEP inventory on the basis of employment equity criteria, education / field of study and skills. An updated list of skills is available to facilitate the selection of students.
Request for Referrals and Request for Re-employment forms can be found on the PSC Web site. Requests for re-employment are processed within two business days and requests for
referrals are processed within five business days.
Organizations can create advertisements to be posted on the PSC’s Web site for positions with particular staffing requirements. If interested, please contact the PSC at FSWEPLL@psc-cfp.gc.ca.
Bridging students upon graduation is a fast and easy way to renew your workforce. Please consult the PSC Web site for further information on the bridging mechanism.
The fall campaign — for student registration only — will begin on October 19, 2010.
The FSWEP inventory will be available to hiring organizations on October 26, 2010.
Please note that federal departments and agencies will not have access to the FSWEP inventory between October 16 and October 25, 2010.This measure provides the time needed to complete this year's campaign and create the new student inventory.
