PSC Statistical Information Site - Training Opportunities - HR Statistical Tool (04-13)

I am writing to you as a follow-up to my previous letter wherein I announced the launch of the new Public Service Commission (PSC) Statistical Information Site on the PSC's Extranet, the source of official information on hiring and staffing activities under the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA).

The PSC Statistical Information Site, located at http://extranet2.psc-cfp.gc.ca/statistics, is called the statistical "Cube" because of its ability to drill down and sideways simultaneously, allowing for more precise data analysis. The "Cube", developed by the Appointments Information and Analysis Directorate (AIAD), will help you in preparing various types of reports, such as departmental trends in hiring and staffing activities and comparisons between human resources activities in departments.

The PSC is now making available an additional Statistical Tool for departmental human resources (HR) staff involved in HR planning issues. This password-protected "Cube" provides more detailed departmental tables with the addition of three personal information variables - gender, first official language and age groupings.

In order to access the new HR Statistical Tool, the PSC asks that the Chief of Staffing or Head of Personnel in your department contact the PSC by means of an e-mail to aiad-dina-info@psc-cfp.gc.ca, containing the name(s), title(s), telephone number(s) and e-mail address(es) of individuals who should have additional access as part of their normal HR functions.

In addition, AIAD is offering a two-hour hands-on training session on the Hiring and Staffing Activities dynamic tool over the next several weeks in Ottawa.
