Message from the President - Overseeing a well-functioning delegated staffing model

Canada needs and expects a well-functioning public service. Safeguarding merit and non-partisanship is key to public confidence in government, and to good governance. Now in its second century, and with the global economic downturn upon us, the Public Service Commission continues to adapt to new challenges while staying true to its mandate – to safeguard the values that are the foundation of a professional and non-partisan federal public service.

More timely access to Second Language Evaluation test results

As of April 2009, the Public Service Commission will offer a new Web-based application that allows human resources specialists to retrieve official Second Language Evaluation test results electronically.

Political activities

In addition to granting permission and leave, if applicable, for candidacy, the Public Service Commission (PSC) provides guidance and tools with respect to involvement in political activities. The PSC may investigate allegations of inappropriate involvement of an employee in political activities that, if founded, may result in corrective action.
